“Prime Minister Narendra Modi Promised 2 Crore Jobs, We Have not Seen Even 2 Lakh”, Former PM Manmohan Singh.

“Unemployment rate at 45-year high in India.” – NSSO

These 2 quotes show how PM Modi’ lies have crushed the dreams of the Indian Youth in 8 years of his tenure.

India’s population is made up of 65% youngsters below the age of 35. Our youngsters are the bed rock of our economic growth and without worthy employment opportunities for the Aspirational India, we cannot harness the power of youth in nation-building. This is where the present dispensation has failed miserably.

Such is the horrendous state of employment opportunities in India that in the BJP-ruled state of Uttar Pradesh, 93,000 candidates applied for the jobs as peons. Out of these candidates 3,700 were Ph.D holders, 50,000 graduates, 28,000 post-graduates and they were applying for jobs with eligibility criteria of Class V. This is not a standalone incident but there are hundreds of such of such incidents happening throughout the country under the BJP regime.

Along with the inept handling of the unemployment crisis by the BJP Govt, the wrecking of organized and unorganized employment by the second COVID-19 wave has made employment opportunities even scarcer. As per the CMIE report, employment rate is down to 37.6%. The unemployment rate is at the-still high figure of 6.5%.

Even as millions of youth are aspiring for a better future as the nation is reeling the from effects of the pandemic, Modi Government’s economic policy has been disproportionately focused on a few big corporations, neglecting small firms and traders, the agricultural sector and most workers, which are the real job creators for the rural, below poverty line and lower middle-classes.

Making matters worse — and fueling speculation that the unemployment situation in India is even more dire than suspected — the government has withheld official data about jobs. The two members of the NSSO who were not government officials resigned this week, in protest over the decision to not release their office’s results even though those had been cleared for publication.

The BJP Government is singularly to be held accountable for the massacre of the hopes, dreams & aspirations of Young India.
